Are you concerned that Venice leadership is mis-directing our beautiful city?
Rampant over development causing major traffic and environmental issues, lack of affordable housing for those in the service industry on whom we all rely, and our unending recurring red tide problem CAN be fixed, but only with the right City Council in place.
If we don’t vote for change now, these problems will continue to grow. That’s why I agree with the City Council working together to solve our substantial local problems and preserve our paradise. Read why I’m running for City Council:
Elect me and I promise to serve YOU to help make the following things happen:

SOLVE Over Development
Unlike some on the City Council, I don't believe that rampant over development is unavoidable. I’ll work to slow it down to reasonable growth.

SOLVE Affordable Housing
Many workers who serve Venice can't find affordable housing and must travel too far to work. I’ll push to add price ranges to new local housing developments.

SOLVE the Red Tide Problem
Red Tide is a serious peril to our beach town. I’ll work to assert local authority in contesting the state moratorium on seasonal fertilizer restrictions.
Read my full candidate statement here to learn how I plan to help solve these issues:
Personally, I have known Joan only briefly, (as I have only lived in Venice for 21/2 years) but I have known her to be a dedicated citizen of Venice and Florida who SHOWS UP and SPEAKS UP to defend the rights of local citizens. She attends meetings, rallies, and political candidate events.
So, I ask you to give her a chance and get to know her. We can have more of the same or we can vote for Joan Farrell, who will challenge the status quo in our Venice City Council. ~ Carol Kennedy, Resident, Venice Island

As we stated recently – and as everyone knows all too well – Venice is at something of a crossroads given the explosive growth and development in our city. It is worth saying again and again: we don't need Council members who stand by while this growth consumes our City in a way that compromises the charm of Venice. The last thing we need is to re-elect a politician seeking a third term who - until election time rolled around - was uninterested in hearing our view regarding development. ~The North Venice Neighborhood Alliance (NVNA) is thrilled to endorse Joan Farrell for Seat 1 on the Venice City Council.
When You Want the Highest and Best Good for Venice
As a fellow Venice resident, I know you want to enjoy the quaint charm of hanging flower baskets, palm tree lined streets, small shops, sidewalk eateries, and the gentle rush of waves on our beaches. To live life to its fullest in our paradise, we need less traffic and more trees, fewer new luxury condo developments and more affordable homes for our young working families, less stinky red tide and more pristine beaches.
Our current leadership is getting in the way of this true beach life, and that makes us frustrated and worried for our future. That’s why I intend to hold our government accountable to help ensure the happiness and well-being of all our local residents. Join my efforts for the Highest and Best Good for Venice. Donate to my campaign and vote for me for City Council, Seat 1.
